John Denver became a star with the folk-based songs he wrote, most of which were located in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a Mexican-born artist and songwriter who fell in love with Colorado. Denver's songs for his home state has drawn a lot of people to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame said it was because John Denver is the only artist to represent Colorado. Denver was inducted into the Hall of Fame as its the first member in 2011. Today he personifies the state to people around the world. On my journeys around the world, I have met many individuals who do not hail from Colorado. They'll say, "Oh John Denver!" When they hear you are from Colorado. Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was Denver's top 10 hit after performing with small folk music bands. The song was written and recorded by Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the tune in the name of Johnny Cash but Denver recognized the song's potential the moment he heard it for the first time. After performing the song in Washington D.C. to a massive crowd, Denver released the song a couple of days afterward.
