Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born August 8, 1989, in Paris. When she moved to Oxfordshire when she was five, she enrolled in the Dragon School. Emma chose to be an actor at age six. For several years, she attended the Oxford branch Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. She learned to sing dance, acting and singing. She had already performed in a variety of Stagecoach and school productions before she turned ten. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) The movie adaptation from J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was cast for first time in 1999. Emma was found by agents via their Oxford teacher. David Heyman announced to Emma that following eight auditions, she as well as Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's first film appearance was made with the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). The film is 2001's top earning film, smashing records on opening day and first weekend. Reviewers praised the film and particularly the younger actors. The highly distributed British newspaper The Daily Telegraph called her performances admirable. Emma received five nominations for her exceptional performance. Later, she won the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actress of a Film.
